Who’s excited for the Legend of Korra finale tomorrow?
CROCHET APPA IS
Since there were two crocheters on my team, I only crocheted one of the three amigurumi for my team. Shown here with reference photo, this amigurumi was modeled after a fellow dedicated scavvie on my team, who was recognizable mostly because of his height and his hat. After Scav, I had intended to keep the amigurumi for myself, but eventually decided to give it to him as a college graduation present.
One of my friends recently commissioned me to make Euglena, a single-celled protist! This is my attempt to make it look somewhat cute, à la Giant Microbes. Euglena comes complete with flagellum and nucleus, and is represented here in its natural habitat (i.e. my desk).
One of the reasons we were crocheting so late into the night at ACen was because we were working on commissions from people at the con! We managed to make a Squirtle and a whale in the span of 4 hours, pictured here.
So, ACen was awesome! We stood at our booth each day for about 8 hours, barely eating or taking breaks or sitting down, even. But it was all worth it in the end, because we got a lot of really nice compliments and support, talked to cool people, and saw some awesome cosplays. We also crocheted a whole lot. Pretty much non-stop, into the wee hours of the night. And we didn’t exactly plan as well as we should have, so we sold out of stock pretty quickly and had to turn people away (which was sad). But for our very first anime convention, we’d say this was a success! We’ll definitely have to come back next year.
So someone commissioned me to crochet an angler fish, and here’s the prototype, with a face only a mother could love.
Happy Valentine’s Day from the Knot Factory! Or if you’re single, happy Singles Awareness Day! There’s no shame in being single :D
Utinni! It’s a Jawa!
